MSP Investigating Fatal Crash on I-95 in Plymouth

PLYMOUTH, Maine – The Maine State Police (MSP) are investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that claimed the life of 40-year-old Tyler Cochran of Skagway, Alaska in the early morning hours of Tuesday, August 26, 2025, on Interstate 95 northbound in Plymouth.

At approximately 1:28 a.m., MSP received reports of a serious crash near mile marker 161. When troopers arrived on scene, they discovered a 2008 Hyundai overturned in the median. The vehicle’s operator, Cochran, was found trapped inside. Despite immediate efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene and required extrication from the wreckage.

According to investigators, preliminary evidence suggests excessive speed and suspected impairment may have contributed to the crash. The vehicle appeared to have lost control before overturning, though the exact circumstances remain under investigation.

The Maine State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit, along with the Troop E Barracks, responded to process the scene. Traffic in the area was temporarily slowed as crews worked to investigate and clear the roadway.

Authorities are urging anyone who may have witnessed the crash or observed Cochran’s vehicle prior to the incident to contact Trooper Bradley Condon at 207-973-3700, extension 9.

The Maine State Police extended their condolences to the family and friends of Tyler Cochran and reiterated the importance of safe, sober driving on Maine’s highways.

This is a developing story. Further updates will be released as the investigation progresses.
