Last night, at approximately 10:00 p.m., local law enforcement officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 1000 block of Declaration Street. Upon arrival, officers located a female victim who had sustained a gunshot wound to her foot. The victim was promptly treated and transported for medical care. Authorities indicated that the circumstances surrounding the shooting suggest it may have been accidental.
During the investigation, officers discovered that one of the residents of the home was currently on probation, prompting a thorough search of the residence. Law enforcement recovered an unregistered personally manufactured firearm (PMF) along with a spent shell casing.
Further investigation revealed that a juvenile occupant of the home was determined to be the owner of the firearm. The juvenile was arrested for weapons violations and taken into custody.
Authorities have confirmed that the investigation remains active, and all involved parties are cooperating with law enforcement. No further injuries were reported, and the community is urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to local authorities.
