In Loving Memory of Brett Toth: Musician, Nature Lover, and Beloved Soul

It is with profound sorrow and a deeply broken heart that I share the passing of my beloved Brett Toth, who took his last breath tonight at 6:35 PM, moving on to the next adventure beyond this world. Brett was more than a partner; he was a light, a melody, and a source of endless joy for everyone who knew him.

A Life Full of Music, Laughter, and Wonder

Brett was an extremely talented musician, whose guitar and voice could bring warmth, laughter, and comfort to all around him. His charisma and humor made him a natural magnet for friendship and love, and his fun-loving spirit was infectious. To be in his presence was to feel alive, inspired, and cherished.

He had a deep, abiding love for nature, and through him, I learned to see the world differently. He taught me to notice the small, magical details: the morning sun shimmering through wet leaves like diamonds, a lone flower bravely emerging through a patch of weeds, or the intricate beauty of wildflowers that he would pick and present with a smile. Birds were a constant delight in his life, and he delighted in filling our yard with feeders so we could watch them together, their colorful feathers dancing in the sunlight as we sat quietly nearby.

As the seasons changed, Brett’s excitement was palpable for cooler evenings. He loved tending to the fireplace and firepit, creating moments of cozy warmth where music, conversation, and laughter intertwined. Often, he would strum his guitar while we sat together, the flames casting a soft glow over the memories we were creating, a gentle reminder of his love for the simple, beautiful things in life.

A Secret Parrot Head and a Love for “Bubbles Up”

Brett had a playful, adventurous side, too. Long before Jimmy Buffett became famous, he would follow him to bars in Key West, quietly embodying the life of a devoted “Parrot Head.” One of his favorite songs, “Bubbles Up,” perfectly captured his philosophy: to find light even when the journey feels long. As the song says, “So when the journey gets long, there is light up above, and joy is always enough, Bubbles up.” That light, that joy, was Brett.

A Heartfelt Goodbye

So, Bubbles Up, my love, and Fins Up. Go find Jimmy and jam the night away. I will miss you beyond measure, my Bretters, but your spirit, your music, your laughter, and your love will remain with me forever. Every sunrise, every fire, every bird, and every wildflower will be a reminder of you.

Rest well, my dearest Brett, until we meet again.
