HEMET, Calif. (August 25, 2025) – The Hemet Police Department has released details following a tragic traffic collision that occurred early Monday morning in the area of Warren Road and Poplar Street, within the City of Hemet, Riverside County.
At approximately 6:02 a.m., the Hemet Police Communications Center received several emergency calls reporting a multi-vehicle crash. Officers arrived within minutes and discovered three vehicles involved. One of the drivers, an adult female, was found unresponsive at the scene. Despite immediate life-saving measures provided by first responders, she was pronounced deceased on-site.
A second driver sustained injuries described as minimal to moderate and was transported to Riverside University Health System Medical Center (RUHS) for treatment. The third driver remained on scene, was uninjured, and cooperated fully with investigators.
The Hemet Police Department Traffic Bureau responded and assumed control of the investigation. Preliminary findings revealed that the driver of a silver Chevrolet Colorado was traveling northbound on Warren Road at Poplar Street when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle drifted into the southbound lanes. In doing so, the Colorado sideswiped a blue Chevrolet Cruze traveling southbound.
The impact caused the Cruze to lose control, sliding sideways into the opposing northbound lanes, where it was struck on the passenger side by a silver Toyota Tundra traveling northbound. Tragically, the driver of the Cruze succumbed to her injuries.
At this stage of the investigation, impairment does not appear to be a factor. The identity of the deceased woman is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
As a result of the collision, Warren Road between Simpson Road and Mustang Way was closed for approximately five hours while officers conducted their investigation and cleared the roadway.
The Hemet Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance. Anyone who witnessed the crash or who may have information helpful to investigators is urged to contact Officer Reineke with the Traffic Bureau at (951) 765-2400.
