BATON ROUGE, La. — Authorities have identified the victim of a deadly Sunday morning shooting in Baton Rouge as 19-year-old D’Anthony Brown.
According to the Baton Rouge Police Department, officers responded to reports of shots fired at approximately 10:18 a.m. along Bellehaven Trace Drive. When they arrived, they learned that Brown had been struck by gunfire while sitting on a porch with another individual.
Police said an unnamed suspect approached and opened fire, striking Brown. The other person on the porch was not reported to be injured in the attack.
Brown was rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. Despite the efforts of medical staff, he later succumbed to his injuries.
Investigators have not yet released a possible motive for the shooting or details about the suspect. As of Monday, no arrests have been made, and the case remains under active investigation by homicide detectives.
The killing of the 19-year-old has left family members and neighbors heartbroken, with many expressing grief over the loss of a young man whose life was cut tragically short.
