Tulsa Man Arrested After Shooting Leaves Girlfriend Injured and 4-Year-Old Son Dead

TULSA, Okla. — A heartbreaking tragedy unfolded in north Tulsa on Sunday evening when a man allegedly opened fire on his girlfriend and 4-year-old son, killing the child and critically injuring the woman. The Tulsa Police Department confirmed that Jaylen Green has been arrested in connection with the shooting.

According to police, the incident happened around 7:30 p.m. at the Seminole Apartments, located near East Virgin Street and North Utica Avenue. Family members who called 911 reported that Green had shot both his son and his girlfriend before the victims attempted to drive themselves to the hospital.

As some officers secured the scene, others were deployed to watch for the victims’ car en route to medical care. The situation took another dramatic turn when the vehicle broke down near North Lewis Avenue and East Pine Street, forcing first responders to assist on the roadside.

Paramedics with EMSA immediately began life-saving efforts on the 4-year-old boy, who was unresponsive. He and his mother were quickly transferred to an ambulance and rushed toward the hospital, with officers clearing traffic ahead of the emergency vehicle to ensure swift passage. Despite the urgent response, the young child was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at the hospital.

The boy’s mother was rushed into surgery for her injuries and, according to police, is expected to survive. Her condition has been described as stable following the operation.

Investigators have not yet released details about what may have sparked the shooting. Police confirmed that homicide detectives are actively working the case to determine the motive.

Green was arrested a short time later and booked into the Tulsa County Jail on charges of second-degree murder, possession of a firearm, and resisting arrest. Authorities have not released further details about his capture, but they stressed that the swift coordination of officers helped prevent further danger to the community.

The killing of the 4-year-old boy has sent shockwaves through the Tulsa community, with neighbors expressing grief and disbelief at the violence. “It’s just heartbreaking,” one nearby resident said. “That little boy had his whole life ahead of him.”
