According to the MTA, the accident occurred at approximately 6:41 p.m. when Metro-North train 1583, traveling westbound on the New Haven Line, struck a person who was not authorized to be on the tracks east of the Darien station. Despite immediate emergency response, Andrew was pronounced dead at the scene. Fortunately, no passengers or crew members aboard the train sustained injuries.
