Danny Ray Phillips, Cherished Husband, Father, and Community Leader, Passes Away at 75

LONGVIEW, TX — Danny Ray Phillips of Longview, Texas, passed away on May 8, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and dedication to family and community. Born on September 14, 1949, in Dallas, Texas, to Robert and Almedia (Waldrop) Phillips, Danny lived a life grounded in service, hard work, and generosity.

A graduate of Harmony High School, Danny spent nearly five decades in the construction industry, building a reputation for craftsmanship, integrity, and commitment. His passion and expertise led him to launch his own construction business, where he poured his heart into his work and earned the respect of colleagues and clients alike.

Danny had a deep love for the outdoors. An avid hunter and outdoorsman, he found peace and joy in nature, embracing simple pleasures that reflected his patient and steady spirit.

A faithful member of Rosewood Baptist Church, Danny exemplified kindness and compassion in every aspect of his life. Known for his willingness to help others, he touched the lives of friends, neighbors, and community members with his generosity and warmth. Above all, he was a devoted family man, cherishing time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Kathy Phillips; daughters Kristy Anderson (Eddie), Danna Brister (Shannon), Joanie Phillips, and Courtney Taylor (Jeff); brother Billy Lorece Phillips, Sr. (June); sister Brenda K. Settles; grandchildren Bradley Phillips (Cami), Megan Valenzuela (Rubio), Hayden Anderson, Colten Brill, Caleb Anderson, Hunter Anderson, Cade Anderson, Samuel Brister, Hannah Brister, Carson Brister, Madison Harrison, Gracie Lindley, Olivia Taylor, and Jack Taylor; and five and a half great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Robert Wayne Phillips.

Funeral services will be held at Rosewood Baptist Church on Monday, May 12, 2025, at 10 AM, with Bro. Charles Johnson and Bro. Donny Chamberlain officiating. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, May 11, 2025, from 6–8 PM at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer. Pallbearers include Colten Brill, Hunter Anderson, Samuel Brister, Billy Phillips, Bradley Phillips, Caleb Anderson, and Cade Anderson, with Hayden Anderson, Jack Taylor, Ray Settles, and Michael Settles serving as honorary pallbearers.

Danny Ray Phillips will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to family, his dedication to his craft, and his compassionate spirit that touched everyone he met. His legacy of love, faith, and service will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
